For the first 11 years of my life, I had always struggled with understanding people. I could not even talk until I was in Kindergarten. My parents always had a hunch that something was wrong but they always listened to the professionals. As I was entering my 6th grade school year, it was brought to my attention that I was deaf in one ear. This news was shocking, it was a difficult time for me. Being a young adolescent, changing schools, and trying to overcome this new challenge. As I learned more about my hearing loss, sensorineural to be exact, I learned that my brain was always and is working two times harder than the average person. At first, I thought that I could never be the person I was but this diagnosis was actually a blessing in disguise, I became more confident in myself, started trying new things, and have become an exceptional student at my high school, Worcester Academy. Since I have faced this challenge, I have learned that I am resilient and can empower others with my story. Although it may seem that you have reached the end of the road, just remember to keep your head held high and continue moving forward. Just because something seems bad in the moment does not mean it will be bad forever.

Brooke has not let this obstacle effect her life as she continues to peruse her passion for modeling and becoming a female race car driver. She was a runner up as Miss Massachusetts Teen USA 2023, and plans to compete nationally in Princess America. She also thrives as a female race car driver as she competes and wins at a high level. Brooke also gives back to the community as she has helped out in multiple charity events including guiding the disabled learn water sports.
