The Buffum Fund!

The Buffum Fund is a mental health initiative created by The Simple Emotions, dedicated to expanding access to mental health resources in communities where support is hard to find. Through fundraising efforts, the fund channels resources directly to five organizations making a difference in mental health awareness, education, and care: The Simple Emotions, Busyhead Project, Yellow Tulip Project, Shine Initiative, and NAMI – Maine. 

The name derives from Buffumville Lake, a trail I have used as an outlet and self-care routine. Buffum is filled with stories throughout my life as I have tread thousands of miles along its trails to process my thoughts, find stillness, and reset. It remains a constant, because living in a small town with minimal resources, I know I can always visit Buffum alone or with a friend and find something that feels like a mental health resource in itself.

Having lived through the lack of mental health resources while struggling, and knowing how isolating that feels, The Simple Emotions is proud to introduce The Buffum Fund, raising money for incredible mental health organizations doing meaningful work in their communities.
